Our aim is to be a centre for wellness, community building and empowerment; this is why we will be growing our online and in-person services which focus on women-centred mental health advice. These resources should exist to serve all women and be accessible no matter your ability. Find out more on what we are doing to help.

Supporting Women’s Mental Wellbeing

Our Services

  • We offer counselling services 5 days a week which operate in-person or online by appointment. This service is for women who are struggling with mild to moderate mental health problems such as anxiety or depression.

  • CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and is a more specific form of counselling which we offer. This service involves breaking damaging thought patterns by working with a qualified therapist who will help you to train your mind and compartmentalise issues.

  • Holistic therapy is an alternative form of therapy which essentially focuses on a person as a whole rather than specifically targeting ailments or problems. We offer Reiki and other therapies in the centre which have benefits for a variety of mental health conditions and can be helpful for overall wellbeing.

  • Aside from the regular services we provide, the centre also offers temporary courses and activities to raise awareness about mental wellbeing and support women’s mental health. These include educational workshops, wellbeing events, partnership courses and support groups.

  • Young Women's Mental Health

According to Agenda UK: “Over a quarter of young women have symptoms of depression or anxiety”

We want to be an active member of the growing community fighting to tackle this issue. It is important to inform and support young women specifically using information and resources which target 16-25 year-olds.

  • Menopause and mental health

We aim to educate women on the ways in which menopause can affect your mental health and de-stigmatise the hormonal and mood changes which are commonly experienced by menopausal women. We also aim to find and provide the best methods of support for this issue.

  • Domestic Violence

Women are victims of domestic violence, both physical and verbal, at a much higher rate than men. We are committed to vigorous support for all women who are at risk of or are experiencing domestic abuse and recognise the short and long-term effects this has on women’s mental health.

  • Social Isolation

A lack of community and social interaction is detrimental to women’s mental health which is why we offer a variety of services to promote community building and stop women from experiencing social isolation. Especially in the aftermath of COVID-19 we are focusing on bringing women together to collectively tackle mental health issues relating to isolation, exclusion and loneliness.

  • Social Media

Our social media platforms are carefully curated to create a positive and open space to discuss mental health and promote wellbeing. We believe in the power of women to combat the problems social media can create by learning about the dangers, actively cultivating positivity and sharing ways to engage in self-care on social media.

ONLINE RESOURCES

  • Monthly Journal

Templates for journalling will be changed every month so that you can count on us to provide a fresh place to reflect.

Journalling is a great mental health tool to externalise a lot of what we experience inside our minds day to day by writing things down.

Self-reflection can help women to organise our emotions and doing this in a journal keeps issues within a designated space which encourages positivity.

  • Self Care Prompts

We will update the prompts based on the time of year so that you can access relevant and realistic ideas on how to develop self-care.

Self-care is a term which has been thrown around a lot in recent years but at TWCG we see it as simply taking time to focus on your own wellbeing mindfully.

Women often have extra responsibilities placed on us to take care of others; it is important that we take care of ourselves first.

  • Gratitude Guide

A new guide will be provided regularly as a structure to express gratitude with the help of an external resource.

With constant news and social media it is easy to become lost in negativity and criticism without intentionally acting and focusing on gratitude.

As often as we can, women should be encouraged to recognise the gratitude coming from within ourselves and thanks to others.
