Questions & Answers
Here we try and answer most of the usually asked questions. But, if you have any others questions that are not discussed here, please contact us.
Do I need a referral to come along to the centre?
You can come to the centre without being referred; this is called a self-referral. You can contact us to ask the best time to visit the centre if you would like to talk to a staff member.
If it is your first time, we recommend coming along to the drop-in café; on a Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.
How is a women's charity funded?
The Women’s Centre Glasgow first sought funding over 30 years ago for our project.
Our journey began with setbacks as the original funding application was rejected, but the dream remained and the organisation continued to become victorious in securing financial support for our vision.
Eventually, we succeeded and the centre was built in Maryhill, Glasgow.
In 1994 we launched our services at the centre and have continued to grow and fight to be a sustainable support network for local women since!
See more about our successes on our History page.
Who can come to the Women's Centre Glasgow?
As our name implies, we are an organisation for women in the Glasgow area.
We welcome everyone who identifies as a woman regardless of race, sexual orientation, background or any other marginalising factor.
It is extremely important that every woman feels safe and welcome in our centre and we will tolerate no form of discrimination in-centre or within our online community.
Do activities change often at the centre?
We do our best to always provide the most accurate information here on our website and social media, including the current season programme, which changes roughly every two months, which you can find on our “Activities & Services” pages.
We often host new courses and have changes to our timetable.
We also provide a lot of regular activities such as Supervised Play (creche), drop-in sessions, keep fit and more.
