How Do We Offer Support

Click on the items below to read more about the kind of support we offer.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, time-limited psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and altering negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress.

It is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals develop coping strategies and problem-solving skills to manage various mental health issues, such as anxiety depression. CBT empowers by teaching them how to challenge distorted thinking, set achievable goals, and cultivate healthier behaviors, ultimately leading to improved emotional well-being and a greater sense of control over their lives.

At the Women’s Centre Glasgow we offer a range of Mental & Wellbeing Therapies/Activities.

  • Holistic therapies encompass a wide range of practices that consider the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—in the pursuit of holistic well-being.

These therapies aim to treat individuals by addressing not only physical symptoms but also emotional and psychological aspects of health. Common holistic approaches include acupuncture, yoga, meditation, aromatherapy, and herbal medicine.

By focusing on the interconnectedness of various aspects of a person’s life, holistic therapies promote a balanced and integrated approach to health, encouraging individuals to foster overall wellness rather than simply alleviating specific symptoms.

At the Women’s Centre Glasgow we offer a range of Holistic Therapies/Activities.

  • “Talk” therapy, often referred to as psychotherapy or counseling, involves discussions between a trained therapist and an individual seeking help with emotional or psychological challenges.

This form of therapy provides a safe and supportive environment where individuals can express their thoughts and feelings, explore personal issues, and work through difficult experiences.

The aim of talk therapy is to foster self-awareness, provide coping strategies, and facilitate personal growth.

It can be beneficial for a variety of concerns, including coping with trauma, managing stress, and improving relationships, and it comes in different forms, such as individual, or group therapy.

  • Support groups are gatherings of individuals who share common experiences, concerns, or challenges, providing a space for mutual support and understanding.

These groups can address a range of issues, from mental health conditions, such as anxiety and depression, to life experiences, such as grief or parenting.

Participants benefit from sharing their stories, gaining insights from others, and developing a sense of community.

Support groups can be facilitated by professionals or run peer-led, and they emphasize empathy, empowerment, and the importance of connection, helping individuals feel less isolated in their struggles.

  • Temporary and permanent running courses and workshops at the Women's Centre Glasgow are designed to provide participants with valuable skills, knowledge, and support tailored to women's needs.

Temporary courses and workshops typically focus on specific topics or skills within a fixed timeframe, allowing individuals to explore new interests or gain insights into particular areas, such as self-defense, financial literacy, or mental health awareness.

On the other hand, permanent courses may offer ongoing opportunities for personal development and continuous support, fostering a nurturing environment for women to connect, learn, and grow. These educational initiatives aim to empower women, enhance their confidence, and build a supportive community.
